Packages and pricing
What's the difference between the Standard and Premium inspection?
Both packages include a full mechanical inspection, diagnostic scan, road test, free PPSR check, instant digital report and a call with your mechanic. Premium adds paint depth readings on every panel to help spot previous repairs, an odometer cross-check, 35+ photos from every angle and a Vehicle Insights market guide. If you're worried about accident history or buying a late-model or prestige car, Premium is the one to choose.
How much does a pre-purchase car inspection cost?
The Standard Inspection is $299 and the Premium Inspection is $379. Additional charges may apply for some areas, and we'll confirm this with you before your booking is finalised.
How long does an inspection take?
A Standard Inspection typically takes 45–60 minutes and a Premium Inspection 70–90 minutes, depending on the vehicle.
When do I get my report, and what's in it?
Your digital report is ready as soon as the inspection is done. Every section of the car is scored, every item is rated Good, Fair or Poor, and anything that needs attention comes with photos. Your mechanic then calls you to talk through the findings. See a sample report.
What does the free PPSR check cover?
Every inspection includes a free PPSR check showing whether there's finance owing on the car and whether it has a write-off record, with the official PPSR certificate attached to your report.
Booking and how it works
How do I book an inspection?
Book online: choose your package, tell us where the car is and add the seller's details. We contact the seller or dealer, lock in a time that suits them and confirm it with you.
Do I need to be there for the inspection?
No. We arrange everything with the seller, so you don't need to attend. Your report arrives as soon as the inspection is done and your mechanic calls you to go through it.
Can you inspect a car if I'm interstate?
Yes. Many of our customers buy from interstate. We inspect the car on your behalf, send you the full report with photos and talk you through it, so you can decide without seeing the car yourself.
Where do you do inspections?
We provide mobile inspections across Melbourne and regional Victoria, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We inspect at private sellers' homes, workplaces and dealerships. Just tell us where the car is when you book.
Is a pre-purchase inspection the same as a roadworthy, pink slip or safety certificate?
No. A roadworthy (VIC), pink slip (NSW) or safety certificate (QLD) only checks that a car meets minimum safety standards for registration, and RideCheck doesn't issue them. A pre-purchase inspection is a broader check of the car's overall condition, done for you as the buyer before you commit.
Do you inspect electric vehicles?
Yes, in Melbourne. We offer a dedicated EV inspection and an AVILOO battery health test.
